We’re excited to host a special networking event, Have Your Cake and Eat It Too, right here at Collinwood on Wednesday, February 14, from 3:00-5:00PM. In addition to enjoying some sweet treats (which everyone deserves in the middle of winter), visitors will have the chance to meet and mingle with our senior care professionals, including our Executive Director Kristen Jacoby and our Health Services Director, Jamie Bolton.
We hope you’ll join us and find out more about our mission of inspired service—and what we’re doing to make an impact on our residents, their families, and the community we serve. Here’s a little bit about Jamie, and what she enjoys most about our senior living community.
Jamie Bolton once danced in her office and it made her resident’s day. The resident, affected by Alzheimer’s, kept singing a song she would sing to her husband. Jamie found the song on YouTube and soon they were dancing.
That’s what defines care for Jamie, who serves as the Health Services Director for Collinwood Assisted Living and Memory Care.
She’s slept in hospitals and spent overnights in the Emergency Room with patients when family couldn’t be there. “I have held the hand of some as they took their last breath and hugged the neck of others whose PET scan came back negative. Every day is a reward. I am thankful I chose a career where I get to care every day,” she said.
Collinwood offers an intimate community, enriching activities and a faith-based approach to “inspired service.” For Jamie, that means “setting the example, acknowledging others for their hard work, and giving others the tools and encouragement they need to do their jobs to the very best of their ability.”
Jamie is proud that her team truly cares. And she, in turn, cares for them. “The most rewarding part of my job is empowering my nursing staff on a very individual basis. When you become a part of Collinwood, you become a part of a family.”
When people visit Collinwood as they research assisted living options, Jamie hopes they see that residents are “are not just a number. They will be genuinely cared for and loved, and meeting their individual needs is a top priority."
Please join Jamie for our “Have Your Cake and Eat It Too” networking event, a celebration of desserts and a chance to mingle with area senior living professionals. Jamie shares that her favorite dessert is her “momma’s sugar cookies” (it’s still up in the air whether she’ll be sharing the recipe…).
