Our very own Abby Weldeab, Care Giver, is making a notable impact on the lives of our residents while inspiring other staff to do the same! She is one of the many Bethesda Senior Living care givers training in Teepa Snow's POSITIVE APPROACH™ - a progressive therapy for helping seniors and their families recognize and manage the early signs of memory change.
Abby has been a caregiver for 22 years, 15 of them at Collinwood. Originally from Ethiopia, she is a proud wife, mom and grandmother. When she is not loving and caring for the residents of Collinwood, she is caring for her four children and one grandchild. On holidays, Abby and her family can be found spending quality time with the Collinwood residents.
One of her many gifts is her ability to assist the residents in overcoming the fear and angst of showering using methods similar to Teepa Snow's POSITIVE APPROACH™. She likes to keep each resident warm, use soaps and lotions that smell good, and talk in a soft, reassuring voice like she is a family member. Abby takes the time to make each person feel as if they are at a day spa, while offering as much assistance that’s needed.
